I've watched Pacific Rim last week. Although when the movie teaser first came out I didn't feel impressed with it. But I'm happy I had tried it out. I admired the mechanics behind the whole jaeger and the mention of neural system connected to a heavy metal body + the after effects.

The action is very good. To be honest, I was sitting on the edge of my seat and mentally screaming at the pilots to MOVEMOVEMOVE FASTER. Hahahaha. But considering how much work is done to create the jaeger, I can understand how heavy the actual body would be so I wondered why there was no weapon. Using a weapon might have helped a lot. In the second half of the movie, Mako revealed a new gadget and behold a sword. and omggg I thought of Gundam Wing the whole way since the sword in the hand bore some resemblance to Heavyarms. And another jaeger also had Heavyarms's chest artillery too~. Another thing I appreciate the movie is that the female lead isn't considered a romantic interest for the male lead or anyone in the story. They're basically working with each other as two peas in a pod or one brain in a body, depending on each other's synchronized wavelengths to finish a mission.

The part where they had to break the portal reminded me so much of Cowboys and Aliens that they had to destroy the nest that continues to terrorize the earth.

One side note, I'm particularly impressed with the little girl that played young Mako in her memories. She was really good. especially the part where she was hiding and running from the kaiju.

After watching the movie... I fell sick. :/ I must have eaten something bad because I felt like throwing up and just slept the whole day away.

*grins* Every time Striker was on screen I was like it's Heavyarms! I ended up annoying my daughter to no end as a result.

The little girl who played Mako was amazing. I've seen it twice now and both times I was heart broken for her. I wanted to reach through the screen, pick her up and cuddle her.

The whole design of the Jaegers was very well done. I liked the idea of the neural hook up too.

Not having a romantic subplot made me really happy since those tend to take away from the rest of the story. I like how it was left so that it is up to the viewer to decide what happens next.

I was sadly not in the presence of a fellow otaku fan v_v so I had to keep my squeals inside. It was so hard not to be vocal about my excitement.

Yeah, I really felt for little Mako. She's so young and she's already this good ;A;.

The jaeger outward pods reminds me of the old designs for the alien invaders in Macross. XDD Hahaha, but of course the jaeger is built like the designs for the real steel robot challenges. The neural hookup makes everything feel more intimate and connected, because they're basically going to share the same thoughts and same body as we speak. Hahaha.

According to some background info on the movie, the director also didn't want to turn the lead female as eyecandy and someone the lead male should fall in love with. So that's a plus too, along with the ambiguous ending of how they Mako almost squeezed Raleigh to death.

I heard that about the director too that he did not want the female lead to be just a love interest. I really liked that they left the ending open so it is up to each viewer to decide where the relationship was going to go. I see the potential for them to become romantically involved but I can see them being partners and good friends too.

I watched it last weekend too. XD Ah I felt the same way! The slow/realistic way the pilots moved was so suspenseful, and I was so sad whenever they died cause they were awesome. :'<

The whole time I was waiting for a sword to bust out - the influences of gundam and evangelion were too apparent, and there's no way a fan of those could not have a sword as a major weapon. So I was pretty excited when it finally appeared, I think the way they drew it out and used every other weapon up first was awesome.

I also really liked how Mako was, and the syncing between pilots dynamic.

The Cowboys and Aliens plot though XD... yeah... I cannot say Pacific Rim's plot was all that.

The little girl who plays young Mako is really famous in Japan. XD; We saw the movie with these teen girls form Japan, they didn't know Mako but they instantly recognized the little girl.

I actually felt bad for the other pilots that got killed off so fast. D: I thought they were impenetrable according to their introductions.

lol our gundam love can be felt miles away. yeah the cinematography of the sword coming out was epic. :DDD And i was wondering why did it not appear sooner~???

lol I was just reminded of the ending that's why I thought they were similar. they had to go through a portal and bomb the nest.

yeah I can see she's so popular. according to wiki, she's still a kid and already ppl are acknowledging her. wow.

I know, I was sad, I wanted to see more of the Chinese and Russian pilots! D: They seemed really cool, but they hardly even showed us a shot of them.

I think they really built up to the sword scene intentionally XD since it was the final weapon. I can see why it was the last weapon though, the others were obviously more powerful (machine guns and blasters and all). It was SO exciting when the sword finally came out since it took so long.
