2021 update

tyreling: (DBSK before: Keep on going)
It's been a while since I wrote anything like a diary sort since the turn of 2020 to 2021.

Some changes in summaries:

- I'm still liking my current work and co-worker. It's also fascinating to see how much we can work together as a team.

- Last month, I had to bury a relative of mine. She caught Covid and was already of age when we realized her health wasn't good.
The process of coordinating the burial rites were exhausting and a lot of family drama came into play. I'd been emotionally exhausted after that week, but I think I did well trying to communicate with the family considering the pandemic.

- Got my first vaccine shot in July and will get my second dose tomorrow. <3

- MXTX books are officially licensed in English and preorders are up sevenseasdanmei. If these books are doing well, they might continue licensing other danmei novels ~whispers maybe Priest~.

- Moved on from certain fandoms and ended up back in k-pop, due to several new mv releases and of course the "Kingdom: Legendary War" show of which several boy groups compete with each other.
The groups in question were:
  1. BTOB - I've watched them debut and listened to a lot of their songs back in 2013, like "Insane" or "Thriller" or "Beep Beep". "I'll be your man" <3 iconic song.
  2. iKon - funny how I know almost most of their popular songs but not really know about their group name. "Love Scenario" and "Killing me" being their most popular song. "Why Why Why" is so catchy.
  3. SF9 - not familiar with this group, but I do remember looping "O Sole Mio" a lot some time ago. Their recent song "Teardrop" is also so catchy.
  4. The Boyz - not familiar with this group either, but I know about them from their journey in the show prior to this season Kingdom: Legendary War. They were insane in Road to Kingdom. "The Stealer" is so catchy.
  5. Stray Kids - have been in my peripheral for a while between "Hellevator" and somehow "Levanter" and "Double Knot". but to be very honest "God's Menu" and "Back door" got me interested in them. "Easy" too.
  6. Ateez - they have been in my playlist for a while since "Wonderland", and "Answer" but I never really got too deep into them until I watched "Kingdom" show. "Hala Hala" and "Pirate King" had been on repeat on my playlist though.
Gosh, I realize how long I've been in the k-pop fandom whenever I watch random dance play videos.

Video heavy afterwards.

Why does this hurt me? my post got deleted even when I was clicking save D:.

It's now nearly 21:00, 4 hours before the year 2020 ends and 2021 will begin.

While we're all ready to shake off the year to welcome new beginnings and hopefully some better moments, we've all collectively learned a lot undergoing/experiencing 2020's pandemic and the results of our own government handling these uncontrollable factors.

Looking back at 2020 feels like it's been the shortest and yet the longest year. I don't want to regurgitate the same things over an over again, like the fear-mongering, the stress, the anxiety and all things considered as we get cooped up at home, not actually getting to hangout or surround us with friends or families or having parties.

So I'll just list a few things for the record:

  • 2020 is when I began with my new job. It was a promising start. I've learned a lot along the way, regarding this job. Especially when the recruiter (who helped me get the interview) wounded up becoming my co-worker along the way because her company let her go due to covid-19. She has taught me a lot trying to reorganize a system that was all left to me. I'm also made aware how much I should work on my articulation.

  • 2020 has led us all consuming a lot of media. I'm so happy to see the danmei genre getting accepted and seeing all these danmei fanarts grace my timeline is amazing. I am happy for mxtx fandom, priest fandom, and of course all the other danmei novels I've kept track of/currently reading. On my to go list right now, besides mxtx and priest:
    • 1. 2ha
    • 2. Golden stage
    • 3. Copper coins
    • 4. New times, new hell
    • 5. Qiang Jin Jiu
    • 6. Tianbao Fuyao Lu
    • 7. Don't pick up boyfriends from the trash bin
    • 8. Part-time Priest
    • 9. Exclusive rights to an online voice actor
    • 10. Seizing dreams
    • The rest can be found on my novelupdates list.

  • 2020 also gave me a spur of a moment writing session. I ended in a new fandom and wrote a lot of mini stories for that fandom, appreciating the sweet and comfortable burn of being able to create fanfic after a long hiatus. Also, learned to appreciate even more orchestral works, this time in classical music genre, mostly focused on violin concertos.

  • I've also learned to look out for my health. The awareness that my body can get sick any time and that I do not want to be the one that would infect others.

  • Also, 2020 is when I got convinced to buy new furniture, convinced my family to get some and also a new refrigerator too. We've now been able to stock up some food things and organize a bit for the new year. Also, bought an oven for my mom. Since she can't go to her cultural dances with her friends, she ended up in a baking spree.

  • Dating, who? Dating, what? It seems amusing to some people. But who knows.

I've probably more but I can think of these at the top of my head. I've had this nice and short message in my previous draft before this whole post got deleted, ughhh.

Anyway, 2020 was such a not so good year. I've lost 2 relatives. I've this whole nice paragraph written out before everything was gone but let's just move on.
So R.I.P. :(

III - Non-fiction

This year I'll try my best to finish at least 1 non-fiction book.

tyreling: (DBSK before: Keep on going)
Hello, everyone! It's been a while. Years actually.

I used to be able to spew words and thoughts in journals on regular basis but now I'm only staring blankly at the screen in front of me; wondering what I should write and what to talk about.

Recently found of some people I used to follow in certain fandoms have passed away. They've always been upbeat when they were online, seemingly living the fullest of what life has to offer. Until someone else posts an update about their passing.

It's just sad to find out one day that any of my fandom friends will some day stop posting or stop being online and all I'll be able to remember of them are the times we used to talk in either LJ or through e-mail or any social network site.

The older I get, the more aware I am about life and time. Life is short, but time will continue forever.

Now I'm just lamenting...

On a much better news, I'm well and healthy. I apologize I haven't been keeping contact. I'm mostly lurking around in twitter ([profile] candlestickycat) and moving into various fandoms.

I hope everyone is still doing well.

May 2020 brings you all abundance of health, love and happiness. <3

23/100 - The Avengers as Cats

I tend to move from fandom to fandom a lot when it comes to fanfiction. Took about 2 weeks to read a lot Teen Wolf stories. Which is kinda funny, I haven't watched the show before. Some of them are really nice.

Anyway, I got bored with the usual tropes and went back to The Avengers fandom to read.

Today I found a funny fic. There exist an actual Catvengers series.

IT'S ADORABLE!

Basically it's about Phil Coulson and the cats he has assembled. XDDD Instead of the usual superheroes in SHIELD, the avengers are Phil's cats. Hahahahahahahahahah. The fic is actually awesome.

It's been a while since I did the review. I skipped so many years because I did not bother counting my writing. But I thought after some dilligent writing since 2013, I might as well review back my efforts.

Something happnd in real life so this might be a goodbye. I am sorry.

Edit: the issue is still pressing /sigh/ but I'm still allowed to go on line. I apologize for worrying everyone.
